An exclusive Miami neighborhood, Bal Harbour is located on the northern tip of Miami Beach, and flanked by Surfside and Haulover beaches. A playground for the wealthy, the town seems to have a no-hold-barred approach to luxury, with high-rise condos, palatial private homes, private elevators, private beaches – private everything! Though a bit ostentatious, Bal Harbour retains its small beach town appeal with its responsible planning and active lifestyle opportunities. Residents – and there are less than 3,500 who call the town their home – are up and about on bike paths, paddle boarding at the beach or practicing yoga at waterfront fitness studios.

Haulover Beach Park is Miami’s only clothing-optional beach, besides being a hub of charter fishing boats in the area. If you want a break from the beach, head left to Skyward Kites, a popular kite-flying stand that hosts birthday parties, workshops and events.

Of course, Bal Harbour also happens to be a shopper’s paradise with numerous high-end designer stores and boutiques. As far as restaurant options are concerned, the emphasis is on fine dining rather than fast food, with Japanese, French, Italian and American fare. Nightlife is exciting and live music is always playing. Bal Harbour is, at once, laidback and posh.
